Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, perform wound debridement, and prescribe appropriate dressings for residents in post-acute care settings including skilled nursing facilities and assisted living. Collaborate with facility staff to ensure effective wound care plans and educate nursing teams while maintaining communication with primary care physicians and families. Order necessary medications and provide clear usage instructions to the geriatric patient population. Deliver bedside wound care with clinical autonomy, rounding daily at multiple facilities within a designated Sacramento, CA territory. No call, evenings, or weekends required.
Required Qualifications
- Active state medical license (MD/DO)
- Valid state driver's license
- Weekday commitment: No call, evenings, or weekends
- Deliver wound care at the bedside in the post-acute care setting
- Round daily at multiple facilities
- No supervisory commitment
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, paying special attention to factors that increase the risk of wound formation
- Collaborate with facility staff to ensure an effective wound care plan
- Perform wound debridement and prescribe appropriate wound dressings
- Educate nursing staff, and maintain open communication with primary care physicians, families, and clinical teams as required
- Order necessary medications and provide clear instructions for their use
- Provide quality patient care to the Geriatric patient population
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting required for extended periods of time
- Driving to facilities in personal automobile
- Requires visual and hearing acuity
- Gross motor skills
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
