Job Summary

Assess and evaluate patients, providing specialized interventions for ostomy and wound management. Develop, document, and implement individualized care plans while delivering education on wound, ostomy care, and self-care to patients, families, and nursing staff. Apply effective medication administration protocols, monitor clinical outcomes, and ensure timely completion of treatment regimens and supply orders. Collaborate with physicians and unit teams to share results and actions, maintaining current knowledge of skin integrity literature and wound assessment competencies. Complete accurate documentation and participate in facility meetings, safety programs, and in-service training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
  • Current BLS certification from a CORALVITA-approved vendor
  • One (1) year of experience in wound care
  • Certification in Wound Care within 6 months of hire
  • Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
  • Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co-workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form
  • Ability to define and solve problems and collect data
  • Ability to identify and implement components of the nursing process
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations
  • Ability to project a professional image
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in Wound Care within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Previous experience working in wound care or demonstrated interest and aptitude in wound care skills
  • Ability to identify learning needs and teach patients and families
  • Ability to carry out essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
