Job Summary
Teach five sections of Spanish 2, 3, 4, and Advanced Elective Spanish using an immersive, skills-centered approach that prioritizes speaking through storytelling, songs, and debates. Prepare diverse, sequential curriculum and lead students in an open classroom environment while utilizing technology and Google Suite to support learning. Support the Student Life program by serving as a student advisor, chaperoning events, and participating in J-term programming. Maintain accurate records of parent correspondence, complete required administrative paperwork, and actively engage in faculty meetings, professional development, and individual evaluations. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to foster an inclusive community aligned with the school's core values of community, growth, excellence, creativity, and respect.
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
- Fluency in English
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish/Hispanophone Literature
- Master's degree
- 4+ years of experience in Spanish instruction in a high school setting
- Ability to skillfully develop and implement multi-level curriculum
- Wide repertoire of teaching skills including developing in-person and online curriculum
- Comfort with technology
- Strong computer skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- Ability to speak authentically about the imperative for diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools
- Commitment to learning about and practicing anti-racist work
- Ability to balance a pursuit of academic, artistic, and institutional excellence with compassion and nurture for each individual
- Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
