Job Summary
Instructing monolingual students in the Four Hallmarks of Literacy in a language other than English, with emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, and language acquisition alongside exposing learners to the culture and history of the language-speaking regions. Develop and implement lessons aligned to New York State World Language standards; assess student progress with project-based assessments, end-of-unit exams, and real-time speaking paired assessments; communicate with parents and counselors; administer Checkpoint A, B, and C World Language assessments; collaborate with co-teachers and administrators to apply research-based instructional strategies; model World Language teaching practices; participate in professional development and curriculum mapping (District World Language Curriculum Maps using Rubicon Atlas). Appointment determined by Board of Education following evaluation of credentials; location in Mount Vernon, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education
- Valid New York State World Language 7-12 certification (Spanish)
- NYS Certified World Language Content (Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin Chinese)
