Job Summary

Provide wellness breaks and work time in the classroom, conduct learning activities with small groups, and supervise meals to encourage nutrition and social skills. Complete drop-off and pick-up attendance using the Child Plus scanning system, maintain playground safety checklists, and ensure emergency supplies are stocked. Coordinate developmental health screenings, exams, and referrals for enrolled children while tracking data in the program database. Assist teachers with field trips, outdoor activities, and classroom organization, and support families by completing needs assessments, scheduling conferences, and documenting home visits.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Willingness to enroll in a CDA credential program that will be completed within two years of date of hire
  • Child development associate (CDA) credential
  • Associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Enrollment in a program leading to an Associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Family Services Credential
  • Current certification in Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR within 180 days of employment
  • Dependable, insured transportation
  • Valid Wyoming Driver's License
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Pass an initial and periodic health screening
  • TB clearance
  • Current certifications in all Wyoming Department of Family Services' childcare-required trainings
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards
  • Knowledge of Head Start Act
  • Knowledge of Absaroka, Inc. Policies and Procedures and Outcomes
  • Knowledge of Wyoming Department of Family Services' child day care licensing requirements
  • Knowledge of Developmentally appropriate practices for young children, as defined by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
  • Knowledge of Head Start Early Learning Framework
  • Knowledge of Head Start Family Framework
  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum
  • Knowledge of Local community resources for low-income families and families with young children
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow directions and take initiative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work effectively with adults and children from diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, ethnicities, experiences, abilities, and temperaments
  • Ability to use a computer to collect, record, retrieve data, and prepare reports
  • Ability to model appropriate dress, appearance, personal hygiene, and professionalism per Personnel Policies and Procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of staff, parent, child, client, community, and agency information
  • Dedication to the goals and philosophy of Absaroka Inc.
  • Ability to occasionally travel out-of-county and out-of-state
  • Ability to attend pre- and in-service trainings, and other trainings as required
  • Ability to use reasonable precautions in the performance of one's duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices
  • Ability to act in such a manner as to assure, at all times, maximum safety to oneself, fellow employees, clients, and children
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, handle, feel, talk, hear, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, taste, smell, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms
