Worktool Design Engineer

Job Summary
Design and develop worktools; translate manufacturing and process requirements into complete mechanical design solutions, engineering drawings, and BOMs. Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and material selection methods to ensure reliability and durability of worktools. Support NPI, engineering changes, and continuous improvement projects. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, safety, and supplier teams to ensure worktool solutions are manufacturable and delivered on time. Carry out cost control and optimization while meeting functional, quality, and delivery requirements, and drive material/structural/method choices. Participate in design reviews, risk analysis, and validation testing to continuously improve solutions. Support on-site worktool issue analysis and root-cause improvements with closed-loop management. Ensure design compliance with company engineering standards and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and practices
- Mechanical Design Knowledge: structural design, strength analysis, mechanism design techniques
- CAD Application: Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks; create/modify 3D models and drawings
- Engineering Drawing and Manufacturing Process Knowledge: GD&T, machining, welding, assembly
- Product and Worktool Design: design for production machinery and structures
- NPI/ECN/APQP knowledge: support structured product launches and risk/preventive quality planning
- Lean manufacturing, ergonomics, and production safety considerations
