Workshop Manager

Job Summary

Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, servicing, and repair of the heavy vehicle fleet, coordinating scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and urgent breakdown repairs across Mercedes-Benz, Kenworth, and Volvo trucks. Lead the workshop team by managing repair priorities, allocating jobs, and ensuring deadlines are met while overseeing diagnostics, fault-finding, and complex mechanical repairs. Monitor fleet compliance, safety standards, and documentation, manage parts requirements and supplier relationships, and maintain a clean, safe workshop environment. Support staff development and communicate with operations to ensure fleet availability meets business needs. Assist with continuous improvement of workshop systems and maintenance planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification or relevant trade qualification
  • Previous experience in a Workshop Manager, Leading Hand or Senior Heavy Vehicle Mechanic role
  • Strong experience working with heavy vehicle fleets
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
  • Experience with hydraulic systems
  • Good understanding of preventative maintenance and fleet maintenance planning
  • Ability to manage workshop priorities in a fast-paced transport environment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Safety-focused with a solid understanding of workshop compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of workshop performance
  • Saturday Work: Occasional, depending on operational requirements
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Mercedes-Benz, Kenworth and Volvo trucks highly regarded
