Job Summary

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive occupational safety and health programs aligned with federal, state, local regulations, and GM internal standards. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards, investigate incidents to determine root causes, and deliver corrective actions. Provide expert guidance to management and employees, develop safety training programs, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate safety into new projects. Monitor safety performance metrics, prepare detailed incident and training reports, and stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes. Report to an assigned GM worksite five days per week with on-call availability for after-hours emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety/ Industrial Hygiene / related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs
  • Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA)
  • Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work onsite five days per week
  • Must be available to respond to site emergencies after hours, on weekends, or holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional safety certification (e.g., GSP, ASP, CSP, CIH)
  • Experience with Intelex or comparable incident, action-management, audit, or Safety data systems
  • Experience with GM Workplace Safety System processes, G-Risk, G-Comply, SIF, SFMEA, Management of Change, Process Floor Change Management, layered audits, or similar systems
  • Experience supporting OSHA inspections, internal audits, emergency exercises, and joint labor-management Safety activities
  • Experience using Power BI or similar tools to monitor leading and lagging Safety indicators
