Workplace Health and Ability Specialist

Workplace Health and Ability Specialist to lead disability management programs across the organization, including occupational and non-occupational disability cases, WSIB administration, accommodations, and return-to-work planning. Role involves reviewing medical information, developing individualized accommodation plans, coordinating independent medical examinations, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation (Human Rights Code, WSIA, ESA, OHSA, PHIPA), and providing guidance to leaders, unions, healthcare providers, insurers, and HR. The position requires monitoring absenteeism and WSIB costs, producing reports, and partnering with departmental leaders for effective case management. Requires strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HRIS, and a valid Ontario driver’s licence. Located at the County of Essex Administration Building in Essex, Ontario, with a permanent full-time schedule (35 hours/week) and a salary band aligned with Band 5, non-union structure, plus benefits and OMERS pension.
