Job Summary
Working Student in Computer Vision & Data Pipeline in Freiburg (MedTech) focused on building real-world CV systems for surgical applications. Responsibilities include creating and curating datasets from operating rooms, developing simulated datasets, setting up and maintaining a compute node for automated nightly validation pipelines, designing scheduling/automation workflows (e.g., cron, Docker-based execution), evaluating and benchmarking CV pipelines (object detection, keypoint tracking) with defined metrics, analyzing results to improve robustness/reproducibility, documenting datasets/experiments/results, and collaborating with software, hardware, and clinical stakeholders in an interdisciplinary environment.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- Solid programming skills in Python (data processing, scripting, automation)
- Experience with Linux systems (Ubuntu) and basic system administration
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized workflows
- Basic understanding of computer vision and machine learning pipelines (e.g., detection, tracking)
- Experience handling datasets (synthetic, simulated, and/or real-world data)
- Understanding of model evaluation metrics (e.g., accuracy, detection rate, stability/jitter)
- Basic knowledge of GPU vs CPU inference workflows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work independently on loosely defined problems
- Clear documentation and reporting of results
- Interest in medical technology, test automation, and system accuracy
- Good communication skills in English; German is a plus
