Job Summary

Workforce Supervisor leads a team within GeneDx’s Commercial Production Lab, providing daily coaching, onboarding/offboarding oversight, timecard review, and personnel reporting to ensure efficient operations and accountability. Roles are categorized into Non-Technical, Technical, Technical GS-eligible with LOD, and Clinical Abstracting tracks. Primary responsibilities include conducting regular check-ins, managing time-off coverage, aligning performance with objectives, delivering ongoing coaching, onboarding new hires, maintaining shift schedules and sample queues, tracking training and competencies, drafting operations-related notes with Quality, and escalating production trends. The position requires supervision of staff, oversight of regulatory-compliant laboratory activities (CLIA/CAP) where applicable, and collaboration across training, Quality, and Technical Operations teams. Eligible tasks include drafting, reviewing, and signing controlled documentation, participating in audits, and ensuring action to achieve regulatory compliance. The role may involve remote work considerations in a broader sense but emphasizes on-site or dedicated lab oversight depending on role. Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required for non-technical roles in Accessions
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required for clinical abstracting roles; BSN preferred but not required
  • Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Genetic Counseling or a related field; PhD in Biology, Genetics or related field; MD or DO with experience in human genetics
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, including progressive leadership responsibilities
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience with a PhD, MD, or DO
  • Prior experience in clinical diagnostics, laboratory testing, data abstraction, or healthcare operations preferred
  • Excellent writing, communication, and collaboration skills; strong organizational, time management, and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and project coordination skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and support team development across technical and non-technical domains
  • Experience with CLIA, CAP regulatory environments
  • Experience with onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and personnel reporting
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and signing controlled documentation (logs, NCEs, SOPs, PQ/PV/IIC)
  • Ability to supervise day-to-day laboratory operations and resolve technical problems

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in documentation review and governance (logs, SOPs, PQ/PV/IIC)
  • Experience with CLIA/CAP-regulated environments
  • Experience with onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and personnel reporting
  • Experience with sample triage, laboratory operations, and cross-training
