Job Summary
Workforce Analytics & Reporting Specialist needed to deliver high-quality analytics and reporting for EMBL's HR organization. Responsibilities include producing workforce analytics to support strategic planning and operational decision-making, delivering clear insights on workforce trends, engagement, turnover and succession, strengthening data governance and privacy in analytics, designing/building/testing Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, BIRT) and dashboards, responding to data requests from HR and leadership, ensuring data quality and consistency across datasets, translating business requirements into scalable reporting solutions, and supporting Workday upgrades and new modules. The role requires hands-on Workday reporting expertise, strong Excel and data-visualisation skills, cross-site HR data experience, and the ability to turn complex data into strategic insights for senior leaders. The position is contract-based (12 months) with a base salary in GBP/EUR terms and hybrid working arrangements; preferred locations are Heidelberg, Germany or Hinxton, UK, with at least 3 days on-site per week.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Workday HCM or equivalent HR reporting experience
- Strong hands-on experience with HR systems in complex, multi-site environments (Workday highly desirable)
- Proven ability to turn complex data into strategic insight for senior leaders
- Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of Workday configuration, Studio, EIBs, and reporting tools
- Understanding of data governance and privacy policies
- Ability to design, build, test, and maintain custom Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, BIRT) and dashboards
- Experience supporting Workday upgrades and new module implementations by validating and updating reports
- Experience creating calculated fields and configuring Workday report prompts
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting solutions
- Strong data visualisation skills (Tableau, Power BI) and ability to tell a story with data
- Experience with data quality, data definitions, and training materials for end users
- Experience delivering insights to senior leaders and stakeholders
