Workforce Absence Team Lead

Job Summary
Supervise multiple teams of examiners and technical staff for disability claims, delegating duties and monitoring workload to ensure compliance with audit and service contract requirements. Provide technical and jurisdictional direction on claims adjudication, review reserve amounts for high-cost claims, and act as a second-level appeal for client and claimant issues. Identify trends and problems to advise management on continuous process improvement, while maintaining client relationships through written claim resumes and status recommendations. Ensure direct reports hold proper licenses and that claims files are correctly coded with adequate documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Six (6) years of claims experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Licenses as required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Professional certifications as applicable to line of business
- Thorough knowledge of claims management procedures and processes for disability
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Leadership/management/motivational skills
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
- Two (2) years of claims supervisory experience

- Computer keyboarding
- Travel as required
