Workers Compensation Defense Legal Secretary

Job Summary

Prepare and submit pleadings, motions, and related documents through California's EAMS platform while maintaining detailed litigation calendars for hearings, depositions, and trials. Draft, revise, and format WC defense materials including answers, declarations, objections, and trial exhibits. Coordinate QME/AME appointments, ensure timely service of medical records, and manage physical and electronic correspondence. Serve as a liaison with internal partners, opposing counsel, and regulatory bodies. Assist with additional administrative tasks as business needs evolve. This permanent hybrid role in Glendale, California, supports an internal defense team with standard business hours Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on workers' compensation defense experience
  • California required
  • Strong working knowledge of WCAB processes and statutory timelines
  • Advanced proficiency with EAMS
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Advanced proficiency with legal case management systems
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume desk with accuracy and efficiency
  • Detail-oriented
  • Deadline-driven
  • Comfortable operating with limited oversight
  • Regular use of computers and standard office equipment
  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable navigating shifting priorities in a deadline-driven setting
  • Capable of working effectively in both on-site and remote environments
