Job Summary
Gather and organize case-related documents, including medical records, police reports, and witness statements, while maintaining accurate physical and electronic case files. Prepare correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents as directed, and track deadlines to ensure timely task completion. Communicate with clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings to provide updates, gather documentation, and coordinate appointments with attorneys. Request, review, and summarize medical records and bills, updating attorneys on treatment progress. Manage multiple schedules, attend onsite meetings, and handle incoming mail, deliveries, faxes, and phone calls. Maintain contact databases and ensure compliance with company policies. Type and file legal documents to support the pre-litigation team.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field
- Experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to stand and walk for moderate periods to retrieve and deliver documents
- Manual dexterity for computer work, document handling, and phone use
- Clear vision and hearing for communication and document review
- Occasional light lifting (up to 20 pounds)
- Onsite in a professional office setting
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role, preferably in personal injury law is preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
