Job Summary
Manage a large inventory of highly complex workers' compensation claims to evaluate compensability and liability. Strategically lead comprehensive investigations to confirm coverage, determine liability, and analyze settlements within prescribed authority. Convey complex coverage information to insureds, claimants, and external partners while authorizing payments up to assigned limits. Maintain accurate claim files and oversee staff performance and coaching where applicable. This role requires 13+ years of property and casualty claims experience, a bachelor's degree, and proficiency in CA work comp law.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 13 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
- Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Expert knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
- Advanced ability to organize and prioritize caseloads, ensuring timely resolution of claims
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and lead negotiations
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Recognized as a subject matter expert within the company, potentially operating at a peer level to management
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation, such as Associate in Claims (AIC)
- CA Work Comp Experience
