Job Summary
Prepare or assist in preparing a variety of foods following standardized recipes, menus, and portion controls. Set up food serving lines and steam tables to serve meals, components, and beverages while maintaining positive interactions with students and staff. Store food and supplies as directed, assist with inventories, and wash, sanitize dishes, counters, and floors. Operate kitchen equipment, dispose of wastes properly, and keep work areas clean and orderly. Accept and count money or tokens for food and beverages, record transactions, and maintain accountability of sales. Follow all safety, sanitation, and Food and Nutrition Services program regulations, including attendance at required trainings. Maintain a positive attitude toward all students and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
- organizational and management skills

- Manual dexterity skills to shred, chop, assemble, and mix food items
- Record keeping and cash registration skills
- Basic computer skills and/or the ability to be trained in basic computer skills to operate District electronic systems
- Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional food service
