Job Summary
Prepare or assist in preparing a variety of foods following standardized recipes, menus, and portion controls. Set up food serving lines and steam tables to serve meals and beverages. Wash, sanitize, and store dishes; scrub counters, tables, and floors; mop areas, and dispose of waste properly. Operate and clean all kitchen equipment while maintaining a clean, orderly work area. Accept and count money, tickets, or tokens for food and beverages; record transactions, and maintain accountability of sales. Store food and supplies as directed; assist in taking inventories. Follow safety and sanitation rules at all times when handling food and using equipment. Maintain a positive attitude toward all students and staff. Comply with all requirements of local, state, and federal Food and Nutrition Services programs, including attendance at all District food service trainings.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills

- Manual dexterity skills to shred, chop, assemble, and mix food items.
- Record keeping and cash registration skills
- Basic computer skills and/or the ability to be trained in basic computer skills to operate District electronic systems.
- Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional food service.
