Job Summary
The Work-study Reading Tutor is responsible for providing reading intervention and mentorship to early elementary school students at select elementary schools. This position involves conducting individualized 30-minute tutoring sessions for 4-6 students, participating in onboarding and training, logging attendance, and administering student pre and post assessments. Candidates must be enrolled at UA Little Rock and have experience working with children. Strong verbal and written communication skills, reliability, and effective time management abilities are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at UA Little Rock
- Must pass background checks, including child maltreatment
- Must have access to a personal laptop or tablet for use during tutoring sessions
- Must have access to reliable transportation (workstudy located off-campus)
- The ability to work 6-8 hours per week for 11 weeks, plus training and onboarding
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work well in a group setting
- Effective time management skills
- Responsiveness, open-mindedness, and self-confidence
- The ability to teach material in an easy-to-understand way
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching reading
