Job Summary
Conduct safe and efficient mechanical repair and maintenance of roadway equipment, including inspecting, repairing, and testing machinery for changing ties, rails, and ballast regulators. Utilize manual, electric, and hydraulic tools alongside welders and cutting torches to perform repairs on loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and tie cranes. Investigate and diagnose equipment issues in hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, taking swift corrective action to minimize downtime. Plan, organize, and coordinate work within a collaborative team while maintaining accurate maintenance records and timesheets. This role requires formal technical education or three years of heavy equipment repair experience, proficiency in reading schematics, and foundational welding skills. Based in Sudbury, Ontario, this safety-sensitive position involves 80-90% travel and offers a competitive hourly rate of $39.531-44.392.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Formal technical education for heavy equipment, commercial transport and/or at least 3 years' experience in heavy duty equipment repairs
- Registered apprentices in the heavy equipment technician program, may also apply
- Experience with reading schematics, troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems
- Proficiency in use of computers, data upkeeping regarding repair workorders and other computer applications
- Foundational welding experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to travel 80-90% of the time
