Job Summary
Oversee inmate work release program crews performing mowing, trimming, and general maintenance of city parks, boulevards, and facilities. Direct daily assignments, allocate equipment, and supervise transportation of inmate crews, materials, and tools. Provide safety instructions, maintain inventory, and order supplies as needed. Assist in carpentry, painting, plumbing, concrete, and masonry tasks while ensuring full compliance with WRDCC rules and regulations. Requires valid Commercial Driver's License, ability to operate trucks and heavy machinery, and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Skills in planning, organizing, and directing the work of others
- Skills in the operation of trucks, vans, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, and other equipment used in the maintenance of parks
- Knowledge of department and WRDCC rules and regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with crews
- Valid Commercial Driver's license (CDL) required or must have ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds
- Ability to assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds
- Ability to operate a passenger van, pickup, dump truck, bucket truck, bobcat, tractor, backhoe
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools, including mowers, weed eaters, and chain saws
- Ability to drive a personal vehicle if required
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment with extreme heat and cold
- Ability to work with high levels of dust, dirt, fumes, and noise
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, lift, walk, and use arms and hands frequently
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
