Job Summary
Contract WordPress Developer to execute scoped development tasks across multiple WordPress sites, build and extend custom themes, plugins, and blocks, troubleshoot complex issues, optimize performance toward Core Web Vitals, translate Figma designs into production WordPress implementations, and collaborate with account managers and other developers in a distributed, remote team. Responsibilities include delivering 1–4 tasks per day, working with Slack/ClickUp/Zoom, contributing to client work across industries, and sustaining quality and maintainability using modern WordPress tools and ecosystems.
Required Qualifications
- WordPress experience: custom themes, plugins, and blocks
- PHP
- JavaScript (React and/or jQuery)
- HTML
- Sass
- WooCommerce
- Git-based workflows
- Strong debugging and problem-solving
- English communication (written and spoken)
- Remote/async-friendly communication
- Figma-to-production capability
- Experience with WordPress tools: Gutenberg, ACF, Elementor
- Knowledge of performance optimization (Core Web Vitals)
- Tools: Cloudflare, Nginx, MariaDB/MySQL, Redis
- Build tools: NPM, Gulp, Webpack
Desired Qualifications
- WordPress development experience with custom themes, plugins, and blocks
- Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (React and/or jQuery), HTML, and Sass
- Experience with WooCommerce and complex plugin ecosystems
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Git-based workflows
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to communicate clearly in a remote, async-first environment
- Comfort coordinating with account managers and other developers
- Familiarity with performance optimization (Core Web Vitals) and related tooling (Cloudflare, Nginx, MariaDB/MySQL, Redis)
- Experience with build tools (NPM, Gulp, Webpack)
- Ability to translate Figma designs into production WordPress implementations
- Experience with WordPress Gutenberg, ACF, Elementor, WooCommerce
- Contract-based engagement with flexible, ongoing work
- Ability to work as part of a distributed team
