Job Summary
Conduct rough, partial, and final inspections of electrical installations to ensure compliance with codes and approved plans. Review and approve wiring and construction plans, issue permits, and maintain associated records using permitting software. Respond to emergency requests from fire, police, and building departments, and investigate complaints by issuing violation notices and ensuring corrective actions. Verify apprentice-to-journeyman ratios at job sites and coordinate with local utility companies for code compliance. Provide technical assistance regarding the Massachusetts Electrical Code and prepare data for prosecution of violations. Full-time, Monday through Friday with rotating hours. Weekly salary of $1,456.02 plus benefits. Requires a current Class D driver's license, a Journeyman's license, and five years of experience as a licensed electrician.
Required Qualifications
- Current valid Class D Massachusetts driver's license
- Access to a motor vehicle in working condition during all working hours
- Minimum Journeyman's License as required by MGL 166-32
- Five years of experience as a licensed electrician working in construction, including residential, commercial, industrial and alarm systems
- Equivalent combination of education and experience (in lieu of five years)
- All current required certificates showing knowledge of current codes
- Computer literacy
- Good communication and writing skills
- Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Willingness to learn software required for performance of job duties
- Ability to work with the public enforcing and interpreting regulations in a firm, tactful, and impartial manner
- MA Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) clearance
- Completion of Conflict-of-Interest Law Education training for municipal employees
Desired Qualifications
- Massachusetts license as a Master electrician preferred
- Experience in electrical inspections preferred
