Job Summary

Program, set up, and operate wire EDM machines using part prints, process sheets, and CAD models to produce precision components. Troubleshoot production issues, monitor parts via visual observation and dimensional measurement, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment. For advanced levels, program complex tool paths with CAM-I, write and edit EDM programs independently, and make custom prototype parts. Collaborate with engineering teams during prototyping and validation phases while maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic shop math skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria
  • Able to run variety of shop equipment
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Capable of programing complex tool paths
  • Must be able to program, set-up, and operate wire EDM machines (primarily Fanuc controls)
  • Must be able to program and troubleshoot complex tool paths using CAM-I
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and make offset adjustments
  • Must be able to perform and document preventative maintenance on lower heads of machine, wire chopper, and clean seal plates
  • Must be able to set-up and run Hole Popper
  • Must be able to make custom parts for prototypes
  • Must be able to perform set-up, run and make required machine adjustments independently
  • Must be able to write and edit complex EDM programs without supervision
  • Must be able to work closely with Discovery and Engineering during Prototyping, Engineering Evaluation, V&V, and PQ/PV
  • Must be capable of programming, setting-up, and running EDM independently
  • Must be capable of writing and editing complex EDM programs without supervision
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be capable of coaching and mentoring
  • Must be available for Monday to Saturday shifts
  • Must be available for overnight shifts (10pm-6:30am)
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry from 10-30 lbs
  • Must be able to perform some heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for up to eight hours per day in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to talk and/or hear, see, handle, reach, see color, and perform repetitive motion
  • Must be able to travel occasionally

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of trade school
  • CAM-I program experience
