WIOA & Career STEP Compliance Specialist

Job Summary

Conduct participant interviews to determine eligibility and assess employment, education, and training needs for the WIOA and Career STEP programs. Support compliance with federal, state, and local laws by monitoring participant progress, maintaining confidential case files, and preparing documentation for audits. Assist participants with enrollment processes, coordinate referrals to training providers and employers, and provide case management support to achieve employment and training goals. Review documentation for accuracy, track performance metrics in management information systems, and respond to participant inquiries. Collaborate with workforce partners, educational institutions, and community organizations to support participant success. This part-time role is 100% funded by MSP and DWDA WIOA and Career STEP programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must have ability to walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, kneel and squat
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook email and calendar management
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize and communicate clearly and effectively in a timely manner
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team
  • Maintain knowledge of current WIOA, Career STEP, and related workforce program policies, procedures, and requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Experience working with WIOA, Career STEP, workforce development, case management, or other federally or state-funded programs preferred
  • Knowledge of workforce development programs, participant eligibility requirements, and case management practices preferred
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and handle sensitive participant records appropriately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff and community partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and utilize program-specific management information systems
