Job Summary
Operate a 6-ton minimum dump truck equipped with snow plow and sander equipment to plough and salt the County road network. Perform general road maintenance duties including patrolling, patching, and grading, while conducting shop maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning, and safety inspections. Execute equipment maintenance tasks like washing, greasing, and changing plough and wing steel, alongside operating machinery for replacing culverts, ditching, and landscaping. Manage winter material stockpiling, install snow fences, and clear brush from right-of-way using diesel chipper and gas-powered chainsaws. Complete necessary paperwork for documentation of deficiencies and repairs. This role supports the Public Works Division's fleet of well-maintained vehicles serving Leeds and Grenville residents during the winter season.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid D-Z driver's licence
- Physically able to perform tasks involving heavy labour
- Minimum of three year's progressive experience in the operation of heavy trucks and other related equipment
- Mechanical aptitude to perform a wide variety of tasks relating to equipment maintenance, operation and repair
