Job Summary
Seasonal School Athletics Coach role responsible for educating students through interscholastic competition; enforce federal, state and district policies; promote academic success; ensure safety and welfare of participants in practices, games, and transportation; develop and implement strategies to encourage participation; manage equipment inventory and budgets (Head Coach); supervise assistant and volunteer coaches; require CPR certification, background check, and valid Arizona Teacher or Substitute Certificate; district approval processes apply; supervisory structure includes unit Principal/Assistant Principal or certified staff; volunteer coaches may be involved under supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a current CPR certification
- Meet all coaching qualifications, course requirements and certifications as determined by federal, state and District criteria
- Pass background investigation as outlined by the District
- Be recommended by Principal or designee
- Receive Governing Board approval
- Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- HEAD COACH (VARSITY, JV, FRESHMAN LEVELS) MUST possess a valid Arizona Teacher or Substitute Certificate
- Lower-Level coaches, if not certified, must be under the direct supervision of a certified staff member
