Wine & Spirits Department Manager

Job Summary
Lead and develop a team of Wine & Spirits associates by coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews to reinforce Festival culture and customer service standards. Hire and onboard new staff, manage weekly schedules to control labor expenses, and oversee inventory, pricing accuracy, and product rotation to ensure the department remains well-stocked and profitable. Deliver exceptional guest service by offering pairing suggestions, handling special orders, and resolving concerns with professionalism while maintaining merchandising standards and department cleanliness. Monitor timekeeping accuracy, ensure compliance with safety requirements and policies, and operate equipment such as hand jacks and forklifts. Work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Knowledge of retail food and beverage operations, including beer, wine, and liquor management
- Experience in restaurants or bartending
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong decision-making skills and operational focus
- Understanding of all safety requirements and company policies
- Proper training and application of training in relevant equipment
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as hand jacks, balers, forklifts, hand trucks, and trash compactors
- Proper lifting techniques and scanning procedures
- Ability to stand in place for long periods of time
- Ability to walk in the store
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel regularly
- Fine finger and broad manual dexterity
- Eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment
- Full range of upper body motion in order to occasionally lift stock
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
- Full-time availability
- Availability for mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule
- Ability to provide adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
