Job Summary
Kinross is hiring a Wine Advisor at the Gibbston location (Central Otago, NZ) to host wine tastings for groups of 2-20, greet guests, conduct tastings, take orders for shipment, and perform related admin tasks. The role emphasizes storytelling and creating an authentic Central Otago wine experience, with a focus on building relationships and developing a sales pipeline to meet targets. The position is permanent with a minimum of 30 hours per week (typical 40 hours), on-site with weekends required. Compensation includes an hourly base rate of NZD 28-30 plus generous quarterly sales commission. Candidates should have strong communication skills, hospitality experience (2+ years), a proven track record of meeting sales targets, wine qualifications (WSET 2 or Sommelier), and proficiency with CRM/sales systems. Visa/right-to-work details in NZ are to be provided.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication and storytelling skills
- Minimum 2 years hospitality experience (preferably with a wine focus)
- Demonstrated success achieving sales targets and building customer relationships
- Wine Qualification such as WSET 2 or Sommelier Certificate
- Confidence using CRM and sales systems
- A genuine passion for wine and hospitality
