Job Summary

Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and perform repairs on brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, and drive axles while adhering to factory standards. Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed components, document all work on repair orders, and road test vehicles when required. Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned, maintain shop cleanliness, and ensure customer vehicles are returned in the same condition they were brought in. Operate hand, power, and diagnostic tools safely while keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins and training programs. Complete background checks and acquire ASE certifications as applicable to your class level.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Report
  • Must be able to lift and move work-related items up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, and turn head-neck-shoulders as needed
  • Must be able to operate equipment such as overhead and floor mounted oil and grease guns, transmission machines, air conditioner service machines, radiator service machines, hand tools, and shop equipment
  • Possession of a complete set of mechanical hand tools, including metric sizes
  • Possession of some mechanical hand tools, including metric sizes
  • Complete knowledge of and experience in, the diagnostics and repair of brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions and drive axles
  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience in the diagnostics and repair of brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, and drive axles
  • Basic knowledge of and some experience in the diagnostics and repair of brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, and drive axles, and working a shop lift and equipment
  • Require five or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires three to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (for C Class, must be willing to acquire if you do not already possess)
  • Manufacturer Training (for C Class, must be willing to acquire if you do not already possess)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks within their workstation
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
  • Moderate computer and internet literacy
  • Basic computer and internet literacy
  • Must be able to be on time and work the entirety of your scheduled shift
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Electric and Hybrid vehicles a plus!
  • Prefer but do not require one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
