Job Summary
Perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment, including basic mechanical installations, operations, upgrades, and component assembly. Dismantle and assemble machinery while accurately documenting all work performed and following Health, Safety & Environmental procedures. Use tools safely and demonstrate knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Climb 300+ ft towers multiple times daily, work at height, and handle up to 50 lbs of gear. Travel up to 25% and work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Complete required climb preview and training before hire.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Successful completion of a climb preview prior to hire
- Ability to climb a 300+ ft. wind tower multiple times per day
- Ability to walk across the hub and, in an emergency, rappel off
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
- Ability and willingness to repeatedly handle up to 50 lbs
- Due to fall protection design parameters, the combined weight of the employee, required PPE, and gear must not exceed 300 lbs
- Able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Willing to travel up to 25%
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical mechanical field, wind energy discipline, or equivalent technical experience
- Mechanical or electrical background
- Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and wiring schematics
