Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Job Summary
Perform basic mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades on wind turbine generator equipment following established procedures. Dismantle and assemble machinery components, accurately document all work performed, and demonstrate safe tool usage while adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) protocols. You must climb 300+ ft. towers multiple times daily, work at height, and handle up to 50 lbs of gear. This full-time role includes mandatory GWO-accredited safety and technical training in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Travel up to 25% and work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Reports directly to the Program Manager and Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Successful completion of a climb preview prior to hire
- Ability to climb a 300+ ft. wind tower multiple times per day
- Ability to walk across the hub and, in an emergency, rappel off
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
- Ability and willingness to repeatedly handle up to 50 lbs
- Due to fall protection design parameters, the combined weight of the employee, required PPE, and gear must not exceed 300 lbs
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Willing to travel up to 25%
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical mechanical field, wind energy discipline, or equivalent technical experience
- Mechanical or electrical background
- Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and wiring schematics
