Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Job Summary
Perform basic mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades on wind turbine generator equipment following established procedures. Dismantle and assemble machinery components, accurately document all work performed, and demonstrate safe tool usage while strictly adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) protocols. You will climb 300+ ft. towers multiple times daily, handle up to 50 lbs of gear, and work in confined spaces and at height. This full-time role includes mandatory GWO-accredited safety and technical training, with travel up to 25% and availability for holidays, weekends, and overtime. Sky Climber Renewables partners with Vestas to deliver safe, reliable utility-scale wind power services.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (Sky Climber does not provide sponsorships)
- Must live within 1-hour commuting distance to job site unless actively relocating to the area
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Successful completion of a climb preview prior to hire
- Ability to climb a 300+ ft. wind tower multiple times per day and work comfortably at height
- Ability to walk across the hub and, in an emergency, rappel off
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
- Ability and willingness to repeatedly handle up to 50 lbs
- Due to fall protection design parameters, the combined weight of the employee, required PPE, and gear must not exceed 300 lbs (PPE and gear may weigh up to 40 lbs)
- Able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Willing to travel up to 25%
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical mechanical field, wind energy discipline, or equivalent technical experience
- Mechanical or electrical background
- Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and wiring schematics
