Wind Transportation Engineer

Job Summary

Lead engineering design, analysis, and product support for transportation fixtures, packaging, and preservation of wind turbine components from conceptual design through serial implementation. Develop technical documentation including fabrication, lashing, and packaging drawings while adapting designs to various transport modes and storage conditions. Drive cost competitiveness through trade-off studies and ensure world-class preservation performance for both onshore and offshore platforms. Own risk identification and mitigation processes, including dFMEA and design validation, while resolving supplier-related packaging issues cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Projects teams. Perform and manage special projects under the direction of the Transportation Engineering Leader to deliver business-critical New Product Introductions.

Required Qualifications

  • B.A./M.A. in Mechanical, Structural, Material, or Packaging Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years product design and development experience
  • Fluent English written and spoken
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of time
  • Knowledge of CAD (preferably Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD)
  • Knowledge of FEA (preferably Ansys)
  • Knowledge of PLM tools
  • Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and apply critical thinking to implement feasible solutions
  • Ability to maintain consistent quality of work under deadline pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership qualities of self and others
  • Technical competency across logistics, customs/duties/trade zones, manufacturing, fulfillment, sourcing, and operations
