Job Summary
Wind Technician role at BluEarth’s Wind Facility involves performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of wind turbine subassemblies; greasing/torquing turbines; changing gearbox oil; servicing blade and hub components; completing work orders and timecards; maintaining safety, EH&S practices, and relationships with landowners and stakeholders; traveling as needed within Canada/US; reading safety regulations and schematics, utilizing SCADA systems, and communicating effectively in a team environment; requires on-site work at Special Area 2, Alberta, Canada, with a valid driver’s license, pre-employment medical, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible hours.
Required Qualifications
- Wind Turbine Technician certificate, Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical, or equivalent combinations of post-secondary education and related experience
- Minimum two years of Wind Power experience preferred
- Experience around high, medium, and low voltage equipment
- Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operations and procedural manuals
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and software
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with testing equipment such as multimeters and voltage testers
- Ability to travel within Canada and U.S.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Physically capable of lifting and maneuvering up to 50lbs
- Completion of pre-employment medical assessment including urine drug screen and/or breath alcohol test
- Ability to work varying schedules including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in environmental conditions (cold/hot)
- Ability to work as part of a team and with limited supervision
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to interpret and follow safety and environmental policies
