Job Summary

Conduct mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance on wind turbines, including troubleshooting SCADA systems and performing balance of plant work. Diagnose complex issues using electrical schematics and test equipment, lead maintenance crews, and safely perform lockout/tagout procedures. Mentor lower-level technicians and document all service activities using computer-based reporting tools. Maintain hand tools and service vehicles while adhering to strict safety protocols in adverse climates. Work flexible on-call schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED required, or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
  • Able to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet
  • Able to work safely in a confined space
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Demonstrable mechanical aptitude
  • Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments
  • Able to travel as required
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use various hand tools
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Able to create, edit, or modify Microsoft Word and Excel documents
  • Possess demonstrable mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge gained through direct work experience
  • Qualifying backgrounds include: electrical work in a construction trade, employment in a power generation or utility environment, or experience as a licensed or apprentice electrician
  • Able to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color-coded wires
  • Able to meet the requirements of Clearway Energy Group's Qualified Electrical Worker program
  • An Associate's degree (electrical or technical) and six months turbine experience, or a high school diploma/GED and one-year wind turbine experience
  • Have an in depth understanding of the different components of the wind turbine including the electrical pitch system, computerized control system, and the power conversion unit
  • Knowledge and understanding of OEM approved mechanical maintenance methods and practices
  • Possess the skills to perform mechanical and electrical equipment repairs
  • An Associate's degree (electrical or technical) and two years turbine experience, or a high school diploma/GED and three-year wind turbine experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams is preferred
  • Previous experience in SAP is preferred
