Wildlife Technician / Assistant Dog Trainer

Job Summary

Prepare for and provide deer, quail, turkey, and duck hunts for owners and guests while conducting safety programs and ensuring premier experiences. Maintain bird dogs by training, acquiring, and exercising them according to the "Road, Run, Rest" principle, while assisting with veterinary services, record keeping, and owner consultations. Manage habitat upkeep by planting food plots, mowing woods, trimming trees, repairing fences, and maintaining flight pens and equipment. Process game by tracking and retrieving downed deer, and assist with prescribed burning programs and department trips. Foster a "One Brays" culture through exceptional customer service and resource sharing, operating in all weather conditions with extended hours including weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate and/or equivalent of education
  • Prior knowledge of kennel operations
  • High knowledge of firearm safety
  • Basic knowledge of first aid
  • 1-2 years Minimum of gun dog and/or retriever training
  • 1 year of kennel operations experience preferred
  • Must be able to effectively interact with all types of individuals
  • Must be mentally alert
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must have good reasoning skills
  • Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed
  • Must be able to use a pen or pencil to write
  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects that can weigh up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to transport oneself around the plantation
  • Must be able to drive a car
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a computer, telephone and various other routine business items
  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays
  • Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances
  • Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment, which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties
