Job Summary

Set up wick machines with correct wicks, sustainers, tooling, and vessel types per shop orders evaluated in the ERP system. Perform preventative maintenance on wickers, develop Total Productive Maintenance plans, and track daily down time updates. Evaluate process improvement plans for downtime caused by wickers and tabbing operations. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the material lead or supervisor. Maintain individual work areas in an orderly manner while following all safety rules and 5S guidelines. Required daily use of Microsoft Office and ability to read and interpret operating instructions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • 12 months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday - Thursday
  • Overtime available during busy season (May-September)
  • Ability to lift objects up to 60 pounds
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to stand and use hands to handle or feel
  • Ability to frequently move objects
  • Ability to talk or hear
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to problem solve and evaluate machine issues at a moment's notice
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate and percent
  • Ability to read and use rulers
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Follows and complies with all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintains individual work area/equipment in a neat, orderly manner
  • Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment/ tooling, defective materials and unusual conditions to material lead or supervisor
  • Follow 5s guidelines
  • Evaluate each shop order including wick type, item number, wick length, correct sustainer, waxed or high melt, and number of wicks per container in accordance with ERP system
  • Set up machine with wick, sustainer, adjusted length, acceptable crimp, and correct tooling/machine parts for different vessels
  • Regularly perform preventative maintenance on wickers
  • Develop and maintain TPM on all wick machines
  • Responsible for daily updates and continuous track of individual and cumulative down time on wickers
  • Evaluate and develop process improvement plans for down time caused by wickers and tabbing operations
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
