WI Based travel fiber splicing role

Job Summary

Read work orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine the sequence of tasks for aerial and underground fiber optic projects. Repair or splice new lines to complete testing and certification, while installing passive and active devices, enclosures, and term panels. Pull fiber through existing duct packages using manual, blowing, or mechanical methods, then splice and activate underground and aerial lines. Test fiber optic lines for balanced signal continuity and optimize nodes to reduce capacity. Utilize light meters and OTDRs accurately, and safely climb utility poles or operate bucket trucks to place cables per system design. Close projects by completing production sheets, verifying activation levels, and troubleshooting as necessary, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and governmental orders.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in fiber optic splicing
  • A positive can-do attitude and openness to trying things new ways
  • GRIT values – Guts, Reliability, Innovation, and Teamwork
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Able to work both individually and in a team environment
  • Able to communicate professionally
  • Able to lift and/or pull up to 80 pounds several times a day
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, drills, and wrenches
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
