Job Summary
The WHS Paraeducator (Special Education) provides assistance to instructional personnel, conducts training with children experiencing special learning needs, and performs clerical support. Responsibilities include implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering remedial instruction, preparing instructional materials, supervising students, applying behavioral management techniques, assisting with personal hygiene and medical needs, maintaining organized student records, and collaborating with team members while adhering to board policies.

- Minimum 2 years of college coursework (60 units) or an Associate’s degree in education or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in assisting with reading, writing, and math instruction.
- Proven experience as a paraeducator (Title I, Special Ed, or General) or in a childcare/educational setting.
- Knowledge of child development, special education goals, and basic arithmetic.
- Demonstrated proficiency in routine clerical tasks and time management.
- Patient, warm, and receptive approach toward children with special needs.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and follow complex oral/written instructions.
- Skill in maintaining cooperative relationships with students and staff.
