Job Summary
Vice President, Wholesale Credit Risk based in Hong Kong supporting the Japan Wholesale Credit Risk team. Responsibilities include supervising an assigned corporate and institutional client portfolio across a range of industries, taking a lead role in due diligence, structuring and documentation for transactions, conducting detailed forward-looking credit analysis with financial modelling to elucidate clients’ industries and risks, exercising credit approval authority, collaborating with transaction stakeholders (client coverage, product bankers, credit executives and legal counsel), reviewing credit and regulatory reporting, mentoring junior team members, tracking market and industry developments and their impact on clients, and supporting ad-hoc initiatives. Required capabilities include strong credit risk analysis, product knowledge across loans/derivatives/liquidity and cash management, and the ability to manage multiple work streams while building relationships with origination teams and internal stakeholders. Japanese language proficiency is advantageous but not required.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 years’ experience in a credit risk or credit analysis role within corporate, institutional and/or investment banking
- Strong credit risk analysis skills covering both qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Strong understanding of products across loans, derivatives and liquidity and cash management products as well as related documentation
- Ability to take an active role in identifying key issues and concerns relating to clients, their industries and transaction structures
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate good time management and clarity in thinking when dealing with multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to foster relationships and confidently interact with origination teams and other internal stakeholders
- Undergraduate degree or post graduate qualifications in accounting, business, finance, or a quantitative related discipline
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication in Japanese is advantageous but not required
