Whitewater River Director

Organize and manage five-day whitewater treks in New River Gorge National Park, supervising trek leads and guests to ensure safety and program quality. Maintain trek equipment, implement leave no trace standards, and model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions. Work with the National Park Service on river service projects and conduct periodic written performance evaluations for staff. Perform additional duties assigned by leadership while adhering to SBR staff handbook policies. Requires a minimum age of 21, documented experience as a commercial trip leader on the New River, and competency as a Class 1-3 whitewater paddler. Valid driver's license with ability to obtain a Summit Driving permit is required, along with willingness to become a registered Scouting America member. Candidates must be comfortable using Microsoft Teams and able to stand, walk, swim, and paddle up to eight hours daily. Housing includes a 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp with a five-to-six-day trek schedule.
