Job Summary
The Wheelchair Attendant plays a vital role in assisting passengers requiring mobility support at the airport, ensuring smooth navigation and comfort. This position involves safely transferring passengers to and from aircraft seats, handling luggage, and adhering to safety protocols while delivering exceptional customer service. Effective communication skills and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends are essential. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, able to lift 70 pounds, and pass a background check.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
- Flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Prolonged standing and walking in an indoor/outdoor environment
- Ability to reach, grasp, push, pull, bend, stretch, squat, kneel
- Exposure to moderate and high noise levels
- Ability to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms
- Tasks may involve repetitive motions
- Specific vision abilities required for clear vision at various distances
