Job Summary
Wheelchair Agent responsible for assisting passengers with mobility needs throughout the airport terminal, providing wheelchair transportation and customer support from check-in through boarding, connections, arrival, and baggage claim. Responsibilities include assisting passengers requiring mobility assistance, transporting/pushing wheelchairs between ticket counters, security checkpoints, gates, baggage claim, and connecting flights; aiding with boarding and deplaning; delivering excellent customer service and professional communication to passengers and families; coordinating with gate agents and airport staff; handling mobility equipment safely; responding to wheelchair service requests and maintaining efficient passenger flow; assisting with light baggage handling; adhering to airport safety procedures, TSA regulations, and company policies; reporting operational concerns and incidents; maintaining professionalism and ensuring safety in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
- Ability to remain patient, courteous, and professional at all times
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Must have reliable telephone and transportation
- Previous customer service, hospitality, healthcare, or airport experience
- Airport terminals, gates, security checkpoints, and baggage claim areas
- Fast-paced environment with frequent passenger interaction
- Requires extensive walking throughout airport terminals
- Exposure to crowded and high-traffic passenger areas
- Ability to push passengers in wheelchairs for extended periods
- Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout shifts
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must meet necessary requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
- Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials
- Identification badges must always be visible
