Job Summary
Hand harvest research material in wheat fields and assist with combine harvest of yield plots. Operate research equipment including threshers, cleaners, and seed counters, then organize seed stocks in the warehouse for sowing. Assist with field planting operations and ensure safety policies and personal protective equipment are followed. Work extended hours as needed in various weather conditions, occasionally traveling or driving on behalf of the business. This summer position starts June 2027 at KWS Cereals USA LLC in Champaign, IL, offering hands-on experience with a team of breeding experts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, and/or pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, Crop Sciences, Plant Breeding, Biology or any other major.
- Ability to work non-standard work hours, including Saturdays, and some overnight travel.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work well independently and with team members.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and with different types of plants.
Desired Qualifications
- Valid driver's licenses.
- Farming knowledge and tractor driving experience.
- The ability to work beyond August.
