Job Summary
Verify patient insurance coverage and update benefit status in commercial and government databases. Submit claims to various private and government-sponsored insurers, then follow up on pending claims and denials. Query remote Medicare software, contact payers or patients to gather information for appeal processing, and enter benefit data accurately. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, federal, and state regulations while adhering to departmental production standards. Work from home with 100% camera-on requirement, utilizing multiple screens and systems simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 2 or more years of experience in medical billing
- Experience working with both government and commercial payers
- Knowledge of insurance terminology and processes
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel software
- Knowledge and skill navigating insurance portals for online benefit review
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand a variety of information presented in different formats from a variety of sources
- Must be able to type a minimum of 25 wpm
- Must be able to work on a computer for the scheduled shift
- Must be able to answer and make telephone calls using a standard or computer soft telephone
- Must be able to type on a standard keyboard
- Must be able to read and comprehend information from a computer terminal and/or written resources
- Must be able to utilize multiple screens and systems simultaneously
- Must be on camera 100% of the time during the scheduled shift
Desired Qualifications
- 2 or more years of experience within the medical industry
- Medical system platform experience with STAR, EPIC, etc.
