Job Summary
Childwatch staff at Westview YMCA help supervise children, plan and execute activities for ages 6 weeks to 8 years, foster positive relationships with parents and staff, and ensure safety and adherence to YMCA policies. The role requires on-site work during evening and weekend shifts with a focus on communication, teamwork, inclusive service, and participation in training, fundraising, and family activities. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to engage diverse groups, and completion of required trainings before or shortly after hire are essential.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Ability to work with children age 6 weeks – 8 years
- Possess excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people required; bilingual capability helpful
- Complete before first shift: program-specific training; all required abuse prevention training.
- Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; BLS CPR/AED/First Aid
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.
- Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
