Job Summary
Lead varsity, junior varsity, and freshman cross country programs by managing all levels of instruction, supervision, and program operations. Submit required certifications and forms, conduct pre-season meetings, and oversee equipment inventory, repairs, and budget requests. Supervise assistant coaches, review Superintendent Rule 1111, and maintain records of awards and team standings. Assist with scouting contests, distribute equipment, and ensure facilities are secured before and after activities. Serve as a positive role model promoting sportsmanship and character while ensuring athlete safety. This temporary, 12-month role supports education-based athletics at Charles County Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- Certified teachers or professional educators employed by a local Board of Education
- Individuals certified by MSDE under COMAR 13A.12.01
- Credentialed coaches who are eligible for a Maryland certificate under COMAR 13A.12.01
- Credentialed coaches who hold MPSSAA/MSDE Coaching Certification
- Credentialed coaches who have two years of successful emergency coaching experience
- Credentialed coaches who have one year of successful emergency coaching experience at the hiring school in the position applied for
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
- Visual acuity to use a keyboard
