Job Summary
West Weber Elementary part-time SEL-focused SpEd Paraeducator providing support to students with social-emotional and behavioral needs in a specialized classroom. Under certified staff direction, implement individualized strategies to promote emotional well-being and academic engagement, including Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) and naturalistic teaching with reinforcement. Model and fade safe prompting, implement data collection (A-B-C, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event/interval), and train school staff on specific interventions. Collaborates with the school team to deliver instruction without disruption; in-person attendance required at the Weber School District site; duties include promoting coping strategies, interpersonal skills, and safe learning environments. Attendance is an Essential Function; position requires on-site collaboration and access to on-site resources.
Required Qualifications
- Must be willing to be trained in Mandt System (behavioral crisis interaction training)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to assume and maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods
- Must be able to move from floor to standing position repeatedly
- Must be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans
- Must be able to provide own transportation to various school settings with reimbursement provided as applicable
