Job Summary
Process complex, high-volume bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Audit HRIS payroll records, manage new hire and termination cases, verify timesheets in VantagePoint, and reconcile tax remittances and 401k deferrals. Prepare state-mandated reports, process garnishment notices, and balance quarterly journal entries. Provide payroll consultation to business units, assist with mergers and data integrity in HRIS systems, and support year-end financials and insurance audits. This role reports directly to the Payroll Director within Salas O'Brien, an employee-owned engineering firm focused on sustainable impact and integrated consulting services.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience with UKG Pro
- Minimum 5 years of experience with processing multi-state payroll
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Current knowledge in relevant payroll laws and regulations
- Adept in multi-state taxation rules, local taxes, and state income tax reciprocal agreements
- Proficient in using UKG Pro
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well on a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Remote (Pacific Standard Time) availability
- No travel required
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred
